I've never had a bad experience here. The owner taught herself how to make sushi and will make anything you want. If she doesn't know how to make something, she'll look it up and teach herself. She's really amazing. And it's a family owned business, so supporting your local people is a plus. I've also tried nearly all of the sushi places in Lawrence and nothing has compared to their sushi so far. I'm completely impressed.

This is my favorite place to grab lunch in Topeka. Small, quiet, reasonable prices and the waitress who runs this place with her parents is the absolute best.

This restaurant has some of the best food to offer in Topeka. Its owned by this nice family who greets you as soon as you open the door. Would recommend to anybody.

Don't let the building's appearance fool you. It may not be an elegant presentation, but the food is actually very good and the portions are huge. Give it a try.

Hole in the wall Japanese restaurant. However .. lots of great food... The hibachi chicken plate is awesome. I'd give 5 stars but that's kind of rare for me to do. Had good service, great food.

The food was spectacular. I had the "Seafood pick two" dinner meal with shrimp and scallops. The shrimp and scallops were amazingly tender and very large. The meal comes with soup (broth with green onions and mushrooms). It also comes with a ginger salad topped with flash fried potato strings, something I'd never had before and it was delicious! It added a deliciously subtle and nutty crunch. Surprisingly, the meal also included rice noodles as well. There was so much food!We got three sushi rolls. The Hawaiian, the Dynamite, and the Volcano roll. The presentation was beautiful and they tasted amazing. Our favorite was the Volcano roll. It had a spicy seafood bake on top of the rolls that was to die for.Our server was so kind and caring. She even turned the TV to cartoons for our kiddos and made special pinwheel folded napkins for them. They even brought out some complimentary bottles of Japanese soda pop for us to try.We will DEFINITELY be returning to Kyoto again.

Mom and pop eatery with tons of variety. My meal was great. I will definitely eat here the next time I travel to Topeka.

I love their sushi, i have tried a few different types of sushi there, and havent been disappointed. The kid there was surprisingly well behaved, and wasnt screaming like you see most other kids do

Man! This has got to be the best Japanese Restaurant I have ever been to. The food taste great. The service is amazing! And the woman server is so polite. I felt at home the whole visit even though I was in a Resturant. Definitely coming back here even though I live an hour away.

This place is always AWESOME! The owner comes out and takes care of people personally, which is more than I can say for most places. The food is stupendous, the service is always excellent and the atmosphere is quaint and comfortable. Five stars all the way.

Fantastic, Mahi Mahi and Hawaiian Sushi in pics, can share the Hibachi plates. Very good food. Building isn't super fancy, however you have to try it, do not drive by, if Hibachi or Sushi is your thing. On par with all the big places in Kansas City and it's hidden in Topeka on 29th st. All it is high quality and a bargain price for the sushi quality and homemade sauces, etc.

Ate there today w/ my son. He loved the steak, and especially the noodles, he even tried some sushi, the 3yr old thought it was great, and I did too. Definitely will be coming back.

One of the best Japan grills I’ve been to as far as the food is concerned. I had the sirloin teriyaki, huge plate, my wife fell in love with the sushi, and my sons kids meal was big as well. The little family that owns and operates it, were soo nice, and made us feel like family. Not very busy, and it’s a shame more people haven’t found this place.

I am grateful for this friendly Asian family who brings us quality sushi and Hibachi grilled meats. There is an intimacy here that is rare in today's food business climate, you really feel like this familie's friend and it is genuine. This place is "Tet's Genuine Article." Sushi was alright. The bowl of soup pretty big. Service could be better. Wasabi was freezer burned or old. But the place is mediocre. Nothing you will die from but not the best sushi place like some of these reviews say

We tried it for the first time today and I was impressed with the quality of the sushi..my husband's hibachi was delicious and the portion was huge. Will definitely go again. The owners were friendly and very welcoming great experience

Literally the worst sushi ever.... I think they bought it from Walmart then refrigeratored it .. like nice people but bad food... They need to use fresh ingredients not .... Whatever they are using...

went in for lunch today 1st time in. not may people in the place at 1:30 very friendly people working. I ordered a lunch combo that was $9.00 when I got back to my desk to eat I found more than enough food for 2 meals. Very tasty. I will be putting them on my lunch rotation for sure. If you have not been yet please give this local gem a try. You won't be sorry

Absolutely amazing food. From the crunchy sushi rolls to the ginger dressing, everything was top notch. The proprietors were genuine and personable and very helpful. She even helped me get my take home into the box. The place was clean and the atmosphere was warm. I would definitely recommend Kyoto to anyone who asks.
